About the production

The Firebird

A modern reinterpretation of Stravinsky's fairytale about a prince entering an enchanted land. In Ján Ďurovčík's powerful vision, a fearful village closed to new ideas is transformed by the arrival of a free-spirited young man whose love inspires both villagers and audience to think, dream and act freely.

Blending Slavic influences into a unified artistic language, Ďurovčík creates a work of total theatre. A striking symbol of constraint — dancers performing in rubber boots — becomes both a metaphor for limited thought and a demanding technical challenge for the company's finest interpreters.
